El Charco del Ingenio Announces Price Increase Amid Global Economic Challenges.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – After a decade of maintaining stable admission prices, El Jardín Botánico el Charco del Ingenio, a renowned botanical garden and nature reserve near San Miguel de Allende, has announced an increase in its entry fees. Effective from January 8, 2024, the general admission price will rise from 50 to 80 Mexican Pesos, while the annual membership fee will now be 1,070 Pesos.

This botanical haven, celebrated for its extensive collection of cacti and other succulent plants, including many rare and endangered species, is facing the same economic pressures that are impacting communities globally and locally. According to the garden’s management, the increased fees are a necessary response to the continual rise in the cost of living, ensuring the garden can adequately cover the growing expenses associated with staff salaries, routine maintenance, conservation efforts, research initiatives, and community service.

Despite the hike in prices, public reaction has been largely positive. Visitors understand the need for the garden to adapt to the changing economic landscape, acknowledging the importance of supporting this vital ecological and educational resource.

To maintain its commitment to accessibility, El Charco del Ingenio is offering a special discounted rate of 40 Pesos for students, Mexican teachers with valid credentials, and senior citizens holding an INAPAM card.

El Charco del Ingenio, a short drive from the heart of San Miguel de Allende, is more than just a garden; it’s a symbol of Mexico’s rich biodiversity and commitment to environmental preservation. This pricing adjustment aims to ensure that this unique sanctuary continues to thrive, providing educational and conservational services to the community and visitors from around the world.

In these challenging times, when the value of natural spaces has never been more evident, El Charco del Ingenio’s decision to revise its pricing structure is a testament to its resilience and dedication to sustainable operation. The garden’s management invites the public to continue enjoying and supporting this irreplaceable natural treasure.
