Christmas arrives to San Miguel de Allende

The magic of Christmas lit up the streets of San Miguel de Allende with the exciting “Tree Lighting”, led by Mayor Mauricio Trejo.

Accompanied by local and visiting families, the municipal president witnessed how the spirit of togetherness and joy took over the World’s Best Small City on this traditional holiday.

In his speech, Trejo reflected on the time that has passed since the last tree lighting and stressed the importance of remembering those who are no longer with us. “December is a very beautiful month, a feeling of friendship and reconciliation. Let’s remember our loved ones and celebrate with family and close friends,” he expressed.

The mayor, visibly moved, shared his gratitude for serving San Miguel de Allende and declared himself fortunate to be part of this community. Accompanied by his daughters Natalia, Rebeca and Valentina, he participated in the final countdown that culminated with the dazzling lighting of the tree, leaving more than 16,500 spectators in awe at the Jardín Principal.

The event featured a variety of activities, from a Christmas train ride for the little ones to live carolers, a Christmas show and pyrotechnics. The evening culminated with a delicious dinner offered by the Government of San Miguel, which included tamales, atoles and the delivery of aguinaldos for all those present.

With the “Tree Lighting”, San Miguel de Allende consolidates its position as a tourist reference, keeping alive the essence of San Miguel with traditions that captivate Mexico and the world every year. The city continues to shine with its own light, making hearts beat during this festive season.
